Last updated 22 October 2026. This page explains what Payday does with your information.
Short version: Payday keeps your spending, your salary and your budget on your own device, and your account holds only your name, e-mail address and saved settings. When you connect a bank, transaction data is fetched only when you ask for it, and it is shown to you and saved back to your device.
Who is responsible
The data controller is Viktor Lindgren, an individual trading under the name Payday, based in Sweden. Contact: Contact.paydaypocketpulse@gmail.com.
Why we use your data (legal basis)
Account details, settings and subscription status: to provide the service you signed up for (performance of a contract). Bank data: to show your spending, on your request and consent. Security logs and fraud prevention: our legitimate interest in keeping the service safe. Accounting records: legal obligation. Feedback and support messages: to answer you and improve the app (legitimate interest).
Who we share data with
Paddle.com is our Merchant of Record. When you start a trial or subscription, Paddle receives your e-mail, country and payment details to sell the subscription, manage it, take payment, handle tax and send invoices. Paddle processes this under its own privacy policy.
We also use service providers for hosting, sign-in and the automated budget assistant (AI), Enable Banking for the bank connection, professional advisers (legal, accounting) when needed, and authorities where required by law. Some providers may process data outside the EU/EEA; in that case standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions protect it.
Retention and security
We keep account data while your account exists and delete it when you delete your account. Subscription and accounting records are kept as long as the law requires, then deleted or anonymised. Data is protected with encryption in transit, access controls and per-user access rules.
What we collect
When you create an account, Payday stores your name and e-mail address and your saved settings — your budget, your category split, your salary day, your savings goals and your language — in your account. This makes your budget follow you between devices and browsers. Your subscription status is stored too, so the app knows if your trial or subscription is active.
Purchases you log, your bank link and your local budget drafts stay in your browser's own storage (localStorage) on the device you use. The keys used are payday, payday-catpct5 and payday-bank.
We do not collect phone numbers, location, advertising IDs or payment card numbers.
Bank data
When you connect a bank you approve the connection with BankID through Enable Banking, a licensed account information service provider operating under the EU Payment Services Directive (PSD2). Your bank credentials are never entered into or stored by Payday — the approval happens at your bank.
After approval, Payday stores only a session reference and the identifiers of the accounts you allowed, again in your browser's storage. When you press sync, the app asks Enable Banking for payments from those accounts since your last salary day and shows them to you, sorted into categories. Spending is read only; Payday can never start a payment from your account.
Enable Banking processes the data under its own licence and privacy policy, which you can read at enablebanking.com. The connection can be removed at any time with the disconnect button in the app.
Where your data lives
Your entered data and your bank link live in the browser storage of the device and browser you used. Clearing the site's data, using another browser or another phone, or using private/incognito mode means the data is not available there. Deleting the app's data removes it permanently.
Your account, saved settings and subscription status are stored on Payday's servers. Your bank transactions are never stored there. If you delete your account, your account data is deleted with it.
The app's server side exists only to sign and forward your bank requests to Enable Banking and to handle your account and subscription. It uses technical credentials stored securely as environment variables and does not keep a database of your transactions.
Cookies and tracking
Payday sets no advertising or tracking cookies and runs no third-party ad or marketing scripts. The hosting platform may keep standard technical server logs (such as request timestamps) needed to run and secure the service.
Your rights
You can remove everything yourself at any time: delete single purchases in the app, disconnect the bank link, or clear the site's data in your browser. You can also withdraw your bank consent directly with your bank or through Enable Banking's consent portal.
If you have questions about how your data is handled, or want a copy or deletion of anything, contact Viktor Lindgren (Payday) at Contact.paydaypocketpulse@gmail.com.

Payday is a personal budgeting tool and is not directed at children under 16.
